This guide was created because so many families told us they needed something to share with the people around them. Something that explains autism in a clear and respectful way, without medical language or stereotypes. Something that helps others understand what is going on beneath the surface, so the child and their parent do not have to keep re-explaining or defending their needs.

It is not just about older generations. Friends, neighbours, siblings, teachers and community members may only know the outdated and medical versions of autism they have seen in media or school training. When this happens, parents can be left feeling alone or misunderstood.

This guide is here to make those conversations easier. It supports understanding, without blame, shame or pressure. It offers small, practical shifts that build trust, connection and safety.
