Sustaining Work & Avoiding Burnout – A Guide for Autistic and AuDHD People (Part 5)
This guide is the fifth and final part of a five-part Yellow Ladybugs series created with our community to support autistic and AuDHD people to navigate work in a way that actually reflects our lived experience.
Part 5 focuses on what happens after you get the job. How to stay well in work. How to notice early signs of burnout. And how to make changes before things reach crisis point.
It explores pacing, energy management, boundaries, communication and recognising the signs that your nervous system is under strain. It acknowledges why many autistic and AuDHD people can sustain work for a period of time and then suddenly crash, and reframes this as a capacity and environment issue rather than a personal failing.
The guide also talks about reviewing your role over time, making adjustments as your needs change, and giving yourself permission to step back, change direction or reassess without shame.
This final part is about sustainability. Helping you stay in work in ways that protect your wellbeing rather than slowly eroding it.
This is a digital PDF download and is Part 5 of the Yellow Ladybugs Work Resource Series.
